Fight Between Husband & Wife Ends With Baby Injured
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A citizen flagged down a Fort Worth police officer Wednesday and said they had just witnessed a man throwing a baby to the ground.
The officer went to the intersection of South University and Granbury Road and discovered that during the course of an argument, between a husband and wife, a baby had been injured.
The incident happened as the pair pushed a stroller with their two infants inside.
"She basically turned the stroller around and got into some sort of argument with her husband, who spit in her face -- which in turn, of course, caused her to spit back at him," explained Fort Worth police spokesperson Sgt. Pedro Criado.
At some point, the husband, 24-year old Cordaro Hopkins, allegedly turned over the stroller and pulled out one of the carriers. It was during the course of that action that one of the children, a 2 ½ month-old baby, was thrown onto the concrete.
The infant suffered facial injuries. Hopkins was taken into custody.
"He was booked in for injury to a child/bodily injury, as well as assault/bodily injury family member, for striking his wife," said Sgt. Criado.
Hopkins is being held in the Mansfield Jail on a $7,500 bond.
