Ferreira's Double Earns Him MLS Player Of The Week

FRISCO (Sports Network) - FC Dallas midfielder David Ferreira claimed the Major League Soccer Player of the Week honor for Week 4 of the MLS season on Monday after his two-goal performance in a 3-0 win over the Colorado Rapids on Friday.

The game was a rematch of the 2010 MLS Cup final, which was won by Colorado, but the Hoops were clearly the better side this time around, with Ferreira playing a big role.

The reigning Most Valuable Player had yet to score a goal or record an assist in the first three games for Dallas, but he came to life on Friday, scoring the first of his two goals in the 40th minute to put Dallas up 2-0 after the opening goal from Ugo Ihemelu.

Ferreira then capped the scoring one minute after halftime to give the Hoops a commanding lead that was never threatened.

The MLS Player of the Week award is selected each week by the North American Soccer Reporters. The group consists of members of online, print, television, radio media. More information can be found at soccerreporters.com.
