Ferreira Leads FC Dallas Past Rapids

FRISCO (AP) - David Ferreira scored two goals and FC Dallas snapped out of its offensive doldrums with a 3-0 victory over the Colorado Rapids in a rematch of last year's MLS Cup.

FC Dallas (1-2-1) had scored one goal while going winless in its first three matches.

The Rapids (3-1-0) had outscored their opponents 8-2. Colorado beat FC Dallas 2-1 in last year's MLS Cup.

Ferreira gave FC Dallas a 3-0 lead 25 seconds into the second half, taking a cross from the right end line from Eric Avila.

Ferreira's first goal of the season came in the 40th minute and Ugo Ihemelu gave FC Dallas its first lead of the season in the 26th minute, receving a header pass from Marvin Chavez.

Chavez paid the price for the assist, leaving the game with a gash above his left eye after colliding in mid-air with Sanna Nyassi.
