Fellow Muslim Student Defends 'Clock Kid's' Former High School

IRVING (CBSDFW.COM) - A Muslim who went to Irving's MacArthur High School is defending the school from discrimination claims.
Earlier in the year, Ahmed Mohamed was arrested for bringing a homemade clock to class. He is claiming Islamaphobia and discrimination lead to him being taken away in handcuffs.
But Amena Jamali, who graduated as valedictorian from MacArthur High in June, says she never experienced any type of discrimination.
"I spent four years at Mac (MacArthur) and never faced any prejudice of any kind."
She says she was taught to be proud of her heritage and that the school gladly accommodated her needs.
"Everything from meal accommodation and even prayer in school, everything."
Jamali says she was allowed to pray at certain times during the day, without any resistance. She did not speak about Muhamed and his claims, only that her time at the school was positive.
Mohamed's family wants $15 million from the city due to the negative impact from the arrest.
