Feds Giving North Texas Money For Street Car Lines
The Federal Government is giving North Texas a big chunk of cash to build and improve street car lines. Nearly 5 million dollars in Federal Transit Funds will go toward expanding and improving the McKinney Avenue Trolley system in uptown Dallas and almost 25 million will be spent on constructing a streetcar loop around downtown Fort Worth that'll have between 20 and 25 stops. According to the proposal submitted, Fort Worth's street car system will be a 2 and a half mile one-way loop connecting six designated urban villages targeted for redevelopment to the city's major employment centers, such as downtown and the Near Southside Medical District. Completeion of the project is still years off.
