"February Madness" Starts Tonight For DFW High Schools

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Texas high school basketball's version of "March Madness" tips off in mid-February on Monday night as nearly 50 area girls teams begin playoff action.

Tonight's schedule features the unbeaten Dallas Lincoln Tigers, ranked 2nd in the state in Class 4A, taking on Dallas Pinkston in the second game of a DISD bi-district doubleheader at Forester Fieldhouse.  Kimball meets Woodrow Wilson in the early game at 6pm.

Aledo, the state's 10th ranked Class 4A girls squad, opens postseason play tonight at 7pm in Burleson against Fort Worth Southwest.  Rockwall, ranked 15th in Class 4A, plays Frisco Centennial at 7pm at Garland Naaman Forest High School.

The top area 5A school in action on Monday night is 3rd ranked Duncanville (31-1), which meets Hurst Bell at 6:30 at Grand Prairie High School.  Plano West, the 6th ranked 5A team in the state, plays Saginaw at 5:30pm in the opener of a Region I doubleheader at Coppell High School.  Keller takes on Plano East in the nightcap.

The state's top ranked 5A girls team, Irving MacArthur, begins defense of its state title at 6:30 Tuesday night against Mansfield at Arlington Lamar's gym.
