FDA Approved Treatment Targets Cellulite
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Shekia Richard is among the 80 percent of women who have cellulite. "I've been working out my entire life, but I still have issues," said Richard, who tried a new FDA approved treatment called Cellulaze. It targets cellulite from under the skin.
Doctors insert a laser through a small incision. It heats up the underlying tissue that holds fat cells together. "By using the laser energy to cut those fibers and melt the fat and tighten the skin, that's how we actually have long-lasting results," said Dr. Bruce Katz.
"After, it was just very, very smooth," said Jennifer Guzman, who was happy with her results. "I could sit down and I wouldn't see any bumps."
Cynosure, the company behind Cellulaze, says that the results last a year or more.
"This is not something that happens overnight. It is a dynamic process," said Dr. Jay Kulkin, who said that it can take about three months to see the full results. "We get people that want the quick fix, and we can't deliver that."
The treatment costs anywhere from $5,000 to $7,000.
