FC Dallas Extends Keeper, Waives 4 Players
FRISCO (AP) - FC Dallas has extended the contract of goalkeeper Richard Sanchez though the 2015 season and waived midfielders Bryan Leyva, Bruno Guarda and Ruben Luna and forward Matias Jara.
Sanchez was a homegrown signing by FC Dallas in February 2011 and five months later became the first American-born World Cup Under 17 champion with Mexico. The 18-year-old was the keeper for Mexico in a 2-0 victory over Uruguay in the title match.
Luna and Leyva were homegrown signings for FC Dallas. Luna played 22 games and scored twice, and Leyva appeared in nine games.
Guarda played in 40 games, including 19 starts, for FC Dallas after the Brazilian midfielder came over in a trade with Colorado in 2008. Jara, of Argentina, didn't appear in a game for FC Dallas.
