FBI Identifies Plano Explosion Suspect
PLANO (CBSDFW.COM) - In a criminal complaint unsealed in federal court on Wednesday, the FBI identified Anson Chi as the suspect accused of setting off a bomb while tampering with a gas main earlier this week.
The FBI was back inside Chi's Plano home on Thursday, carrying more boxes out of it. Chi is accused of possessing a destructive device made with chemicals and "a combination of parts intended for use in converting a readily assembled explosive" that isn't registered to him.
"I was just really shocked. I'm just wondering what's going on," said Belinda Rodriguez. She lives around the block from the house, located in the 3200 block of Anchor Drive. Agents had already found one suspicious device in the home on Monday. They destroyed it.
"I'm just kind of worried. I'm just wondering what else they found inside that house or why they're back," Rodriguez said.
Investigators think Chi was tampering with a gas main Sunday when a bomb he was carrying went off.
Investigators followed a trail of blood to their suspect, who told them he'd been hit by a car while jogging. He's still in the hospital, though the FBI won't say what condition he's in.
The FBI isn't saying much about their latest search either, only there was no danger to the public this day. The bomb squad wasn't there either. "I'm glad they came back though. If there's something else in there and there's something to find. I want them took look and find it," another neighbor, Jack Jordan, said.
Chi is described as a man in his 30s with extremist views.
