Father Sentenced To 50 Years In Prison For Son's Death
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) – A Euless father is sentenced to 50 years in prison, after pleading guilty to killing his five-month-old son last year.
Gregory Williams, 37, admitted to causing a fatal head injury to his infant son, Demetrie Reeves, last November. Tarrant County prosecutors say Williams either shook Demetrie or hit him with a hard object. They also say Williams seriously injured his son, four months earlier.
"Demetrie had a very short and a very sad life," said Assistant District Attorney Alana Minton. "From the time he was born, his father wasn't allowed to be around him without supervision— and for good reason. The first time he was with him unsupervised, he broke Demetrie's arm. The next time, he killed him. We're glad we were able to get justice for Demetrie."
Despite the order from Child Protective Services banning Williams from being alone with his son, Williams was unsupervised when he fatally injured Demetrie.
Williams must serve at least 25 years of his sentence before he will be eligible for a parole.
