DALLAS(CBSDFW.COM) - The fate of the Dallas Schools superintendent will be determined Friday.  A special board of trustees meeting happens at 4pm.

Mike Miles has made it clear he wants to stay put and supporters, including Dallas City Council members plan to be there.

But at least three trustees want Miles out.  It will take five votes to make that happen.  Sources tell CBS11 there will be a severance deal on the table for Miles to take.

POLL:  Do you think removing Mike Miles benefits the children of DISD?

A non-profit called, "Stand for Children Texas" is rallying behind Miles.  The director, Stacey Hodge  taught under Miles for a year.  "We wonder why our kids are behind it's the revolving door so I would ask them to think about that from that stand point they give him an extension on his contract so why now and lets think about the kids," says Hodge.

Rena Honea, the president of the teachers union Alliance-AFT says Miles has had enough time.  "Last year we called for Superintendent Miles resignation that did not happen. We believe that the things he promised to bring to Dallas have not come to fruition. We've seen more of our campuses become low performing under his administration," says Honea.

The teachers group will rally outside DISD headquarters before the meeting.
