Fiery Car Crash Kills 2 People In Grand Prairie
GRAND PRAIRIE (CBSDFW.COM) - A fiery freeway crash in Grand Prairie on Thursday night killed two people and left two other people hurt, police said. The crash was reported just after 10:30 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of Interstate-30 near Beltline Road.
According to police, a Dodge car was traveling at a high rate of speed as it entered a construction zone. The car swerved and clipped a Toyota Tundra and a blue Chevy sedan. The Dodge then went into a spin and smashed into a cement wall, where its fuel tank ruptured. The Dodge caught on fire as it was rear-ended by a Chevy Tahoe.
Both occupants in the Dodge died on the scene. The names of those victims have not been released.
The freeway was closed for a few hours overnight while investigators were on the scene. Lanes reopened to traffic at around 3 a.m. Friday morning.
