NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) - It's that time of year again! Dallas-based Neiman Marcus has unveiled the 89th edition of their Christmas catalog.
The lavish 2015 Neiman Marcus Christmas Book highlights expense and extravagance, and has some gifts that aren't for the 'light-of-wallet.'
Marking the start of the what some consider to be the official start of the holiday shopping season, company officials say the Neiman Marcus holiday gifts are sure to make the "wildest dreams come true."
One of the more extravagant items in the 2015 Christmas Book is the Dream Trip to India for a bank busting $400,000. The 12-day vacation sends two people to India buy private plane. Offers ground transportation by vintage car, lodging at the finest hotels, dinners hosted by royalty, private cricket lessons, a dance lesson on a private Bollywood movie set.
Perhaps your travel ambitions are more interstellar. If so, the World View Exploration at the Edge of Space gift may be more to your liking. The two-part adventure begins with a behind-the-scenes invitation to a World View test flight and Biosphere 2 tour with original crew member Jane Poyter. The second part of the adventure has you and seven friends experiencing a 360-degree view of Earth when a high-altitude balloon lifts your luxury pressurized capsule 100,000 feet above the planet. This high-flying adventure will only set you back $90,000 per person.
If you like to keep your feet on the ground and the wind in your hair, the Arch Motorcycle & Ride Experience will net you a limited edition KRGT-1 motorcycle and a 2-day ride along the California coast with Keanu Reeves and Gard Hollinger. The cost? A cool $150,000. And if you prefer four wheels on the round, the Neiman Marcus Limited-Edition Mustang Convertible might flex your gears. With a 700-horsepower supercharged engine, racing suspension, and carbon-fiber trim you'll have to dial it back a bit on North Texas roadways. But you'll probably be extra careful anyway since the Ford will set you back $95,000.
Those wanting to keep their spending in the four to five-figure range could pick up the Texas Guitar Trio gift. The $30,000 present consists of guitars commissioned by Texas music legends. Or maybe you get the kids a set of ultimate children's costumes, each personalized in a MacKenzie-Childs trunk. For just $5,000 your children can swing through the air as Spider-Man or morph into Cinderella in the the Ultimate Ball Gown.
This year's 196 page catalog features more than 500 items and company officials say the book is for everyone, since more than 40-percent of the items offered cost less than $250. In fact, the least expensive items are the Neiman Marcus Exclusive Marshmallows in a holiday art tin. They cost just $10.
The Neiman Marcus Christmas Book was first published in 1926 as a 16-page booklet. And while opulence seems to always be the focus, Neiman Marcus donates a portion of the proceeds from each Fantasy Gift purchase to The Heart of Neiman Marcus Foundation.
