Fans & Businesses Gear Up For Rangers Opening Day
ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Nine-year-old Braxton Briones is a big baseball fan.
"Huge," he corrects.
His whole family is.
"My daddy was a Rangers fan – just always have been," said his mother, Kimberly Briones
So, last year was pretty amazing.
"It was something I never thought I'd' be a part of, and I got to be a part of it," said Mrs. Briones.
For the Rangers, it was a history-making season. For local business, it brought a big surge in customers. Last year was so good, in fact, it's left some high expectations for the season that kicks off this Friday.
"I'm ready to see what these guys can do," said Mrs. Briones.
The ballpark has gotten an upgrade, including a massive new video board.
The local Humperdinks sports bar has expanded its serving area outdoors to handle even more customers.
And, at Academy Sports & Outdoors, shoppers are already finding displays of jerseys, hats, foam fingers, and antlers.
"We are knee deep in baseball right now," said Geri Thomison as she searched for a T-shirt for her youngest son.
But will the Rangers be able to defend their American League Championship title?
"Hopefully, hopefully," said a young Luke Thomison.
