Family & Police Search For Missing North Texas Lawman
FLOWER MOUND (CBSDFW.COM) - A Flower Mound police officer has gone missing.
Authorities say Sgt. Jeremy Varnell was last seen in San Antonio this past weekend. Varnell, 43, was in the city to run a marathon.
According to a police report Varnell arrived in San Antonio on November 15 with some other friends running the marathon.
Varnell apparently had a normal weekend and ran the marathon Sunday morning. According to the report, Varnell met some friends after the race and went to dinner.
Around 9:30 p.m. Varnell called it a night and told those with him that he was headed to his hotel room.
Varnell had plans to meet a friend for breakfast on Monday morning, but he never showed up. A member of the group became concerned and contacted hotel management. Security went to Varnell's hotel room where they only found his clothes and personal items. Police were immediately called.
While Varnell's clothes and personal items are in the room his vehicle is missing from the hotel. Concern continued to grow after Varnell didn't show up for work on Tuesday didn't contact his supervisors and could not be reached.
Sgt. Jeremy Varnell was last seen wearing a black shirt, black shorts, black long socks and black tennis shoes. He stands 5'9", weighs around 220 pounds, and has green eyes and brown hair.
Varnell's missing vehicle is a blue, 4-door 2012 Ford Focus. It has the Texas license plate DF1X970.
Flower Mound police Captain Wes Griffin released a statement saying, "This is completely uncharacteristic. He's very detail oriented, very organized. It's not at all like him and we're greatly concerned about his well being."
Anyone with information about Jeremy Varnell is asked to contact either the San Antonio Police Department at (210) 207-7660 or Flower Mound police at (972) 539-0525.
