ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - The family of an Arlington teenager, shot and killed by a police officer early Friday morning, speaks out for the first time since additional security video was released.

The video shows 19-year-old Christian Taylor breaking into the Classic Buick GMC car dealership moments before he was killed.

Adrian Taylor said his family is frustrated that they have received no explanation from police as to why a rookie officer shot his unarmed younger brother.

But Taylor also said his family understands and respects that an investigation needs to be done and that they believe in letting the justice system run its course. He said getting angry doesn't solve anything.

Adrian Taylor doesn't know what his brother was doing at the dealership, but says everyone makes mistakes.

Adrian took a CBS 11 News crew around his parents home, showing the many graduation pictures and track and field medals that he says truly represents who is brother was.

When asked about whether he felt race played a role in the shooting of his brother, Adrian said the same thing could have happened to any teenager - black or white. "I don't want it to be a race thing. I don't want it to be a black-white thing, because it can happen to anybody," he said. "Just last week a white kid got killed. I want everybody protected by law enforcement."

The next major step in the investigation will be Officer Brad Miller providing his statement on what occurred at the car dealership. He is expected to do this sometime in the next few days.

Arlington police Chief Will Johnson said once Miller gives the statement he hopes to provide the Taylor family with a better explanation as to what occurred in those final moments before the officer shot and killed Christian.
