Families Of Missing Women Want Help From FBI And State Investigators

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) – The families of two missing Fort Worth women are demanding Fort Worth Police call in state and federal help to solve the cases.

Typhenie Johnson and Taalibah Islam's families believe the same man is responsible for their loved ones vanishing.

Johnson went missing two weeks ago without a trace. Her ex-boyfriend, Christopher Revill is now charged with kidnapping and being held in the Mansfield jail.

Islam's family says Taalibah also went missing ten years ago while dating Revill.

Although Revill is suspected in Johnson's disappearance, he is not being held responsible for Islam who still has not been located.

Hadiyah Islam, Taalibah's sister made an emotional plea on Monday saying, "I feel this would not be happening now if they (police) would have listened to us 10 years ago."

Typhenie's mother Deborah Johnson added, "We do not want this to happen to another family."

The families have joined forces with the activist group Next Generation Action Network.

Together they are pressuring the Fort Worth Police Department to do more in solving these cases and locating the missing women.

Johnson said, "I would like them to get the FBI and the States investigators involved."

Fort Worth Police issued the following statement Monday night:

The Fort Worth Police Department sympathizes with the families of both Typhenie Johnson and Taalibah Islam. We understand that the families' emotions are running high and our officers, detectives and crime analysts are working diligently to bring them closure.

Detectives have coordinated numerous searches since Typhenie Johnson's disappearance. Since the first call for police assistance, our officers and detectives have been searching by ground, air, horseback and using police K9 assets. The police department has also accepted the assistance of civilian volunteers, including, Code Blue, Community Emergency Response Teams, Search 1 Rescue Team and concerned citizens who just wanted to help look for Typhenie. Police search efforts continue, but have now been concentrated in smaller areas as leads develop. We have not, and will not, spare any expense in the search for Typhenie.

The Lieutenant over Violent Personal Crimes has been in regular contact with Typhenie's family and has updated them on the progress of the investigation. He has also offered to give maps of areas previously searched by police to assist in the family's own search efforts.

The missing person's case involving Taalibah Islam from 2006 was never closed and is still an active investigation. Detectives are currently cross referencing evidence in both cases to determine if there are significant similarities.

Fort Worth Police Department detectives have very good working relationships with our federal and state law enforcement partners who have been updated on the progress of this case. Should the assistance of these agencies be needed, we will not hesitate to ask.

We ask for continued prayers of comfort and strength for these families as these investigations continue.
