Fall Starts Fall-Like

We close the weekend and the last full day of summer with a day in the mid-90's under mostly sunny skies. Tomorrow we'll also have ample sunshine but winds will be brisk from the northeast. Humidity and temperatures will be much lower:

Nice timing on a nice break from the heat. We'll be about 10° cooler tomorrow with dewpoints in the low 50's, something a little more typical for this time of year and a little more like Fall. The Autumnal Equinox starts at 9:29pm.

A front is moving over the Red River this evening and across the north Texas tonight. There is not a big temperatures difference with the weak cold front nor much in big north winds. It won't push up against the warmer and more moist air with a lot of drama so don't expect much in rain chances. They are best along the Red River, not so great elsewhere:

As we quickly lose the daytime heating the rain will become VERY widespread.

The front is bringing down the humidity in a big way. This goes a long way in making a sunny day more comfortable. A brisk northeast wind through the day will make it rather pleasant:

We have a week of calm autumn weather to enjoy as we count down to the start of the State Fair of Texas.

There is no significant chance of rain in the forecast this week. With only a mere .06" of rain in the bucket so far this month at DFW we are off to the driest start to a September since 1984. That also happened to be the driest September on record with only .09" of rain over those 30 days.
