Exide To Detail Frisco Plant Demolition Plan
FRISCO (CBSDFW.COM) - A controversial battery recycling plant in Collin County was already shut down, but it is still a major a major issue for the surrounding community. Exide Technologies is hosting a public meeting on Wednesday night in Frisco for those neighbors who still have a lot of questions.
The original concern was about the air quality in the area surrounding the plant. Now, nearby residents want to make sure that they know about the demolition process of this closed facility, and make sure that it is done safely.
The Exide Technologies plant in Frisco was officially shut down less than two weeks ago. It was one of only 16 places in the nation that did not meet the federal air quality standards for lead, known to be bad for children.
Exide Technologies will host a public meeting Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. at the Frisco Heritage Center Depot to lay out the decontamination and demolition plan. The company said that it will also talk to people about how they can follow the shut down process online.
