Execution Date For Murderer Of Mentally Impaired Woman

TARRANT COUNTY (AP/CBSDFW.COM) - A judge in Fort Worth on Thursday ordered Michael Wayne Hall executed on February 15.  The execution date is 13 years to the day since he helped torture and murder a mentally impaired woman, 19-year-old Amy Robinson of Arlington.

Hall, and his friend Robert Neville Jr., confessed to snatching Amy as she rode her bike to work at an Arlington supermarket. The pair had worked with Amy at the Kroger store before they were fired and knew the route she took as she rode her bike to work. When they offered her a ride, she accepted. They later admitted torturing the mentally-challenged teen, then shooting her seven times.

Hall and Neville were arrested about two weeks after Amy was reported missing. They were stopped at a customs checkpoint near Eagle Pass as they were trying to cross into Mexico. They told authorities they could find Amy's body in a grassy field in the Trinity River bottoms.

Amy suffered from a genetic disorder, Turner's syndrome, a rare chromosome disorder found only in women and characterized by short stature and lack of sexual development at puberty.

Neville was executed in February of 2006 for his role in the murder.
