EXCLUSIVE: Family Of Man Shot After Cowboys Game Speaks

MEXIA (CBS11) - Shot in the neck after a Dallas Cowboys football game outside of AT&T Stadium on Sunday, the family of Rick Sells broke their silence on Wednesday night to speak about what happened to their loved one.
The family of Rick Sells took him off of life support just a few days after police said he was shot while trying to break up a fight between two other people.
"All of that was taken in a moment of callousness. A monster showed him no mercy," said Victoria Gunning, the victim's sister. "That's how he was. He wouldn't allow anyone to be hurt."
Gunning said her brother was engaged and was about to get married in November. He and his fiancé were also expecting the birth of their daughter in a few months.
Sells mother, Mary Dunkin, could hardly speak or think about her son's final, conscious moments.
"It's just a big hole in my heart and I can't think about being angry when I don't have my son anymore. It's hard to think about him being gone," said Dunkin.
Police arrested Marvin Rodriguez, 28, and charged him with aggravated assault. The severity of the charges though could change.
"That man didn't just take away my brother, he took away all of us. We may be still here walking, but we're all dead too," said Gunning.
The family of Rick Sells plans to donate his organs. Gunning is hoping her brother, even in his passing, can continue changing lives.
"He was a server of people and that was his last act of kindness that he could give to anyone," said Gunning.
A sister must now go on without her brother, a soon-to-be-wife without a husband and the little girl Rick Sells was expecting to welcome into the world will never meet her father.
"Every day, every moment that I'm here without him in my life will be loss, empty, devastated moments," said Gunning. "It will never ever be the same for any of us."
