Ex-DA Watkins: No Knowledge Of Dez Video Case

DALLAS, Texas (105.3 THE FAN) - Dez Bryant's involvement in a July 2011 police call to a Walmart parking lot in Lancaster, Texas is not news to the Cowboys, who sources tell me have known about the incident since that time.
But the alleged seriousness of the occurrence is news to Craig Watkins, the former Dallas County district attorney who tells me that his "office had no knowledge of there being an incident, let alone a video tape.''
"Because there was no arrest and no complainant, the incident never comes to the District Attorney's office,'' said Watkins, now in private practice as an attorney in Dallas. "I never saw a video tape and I have serious doubts that one exists.''
Bryant is embroiled in controversy largely based on rumors about what Lancaster police at the time noted as "an unknown disturbance" in a Walmart parking lot during the early morning of July 11, 2011. Associates of Bryant's and vehicles registered to Bryant were at the scene, and according to the police report Bryant later arrived in another car.
Lancaster PD interviewed the Cowboys' All-Pro receiver and in their report wrote, "It was determined that there was no offense" and "all parties were advised they were free to go."
Said Watkins: "The police did their investigation and the situation never moved on after that.''
