Ex-Con Gets Life In Prison For Killing Neighbor
FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) -- A Fort Worth man has been sentenced to life in prison for fatally shooting his neighbor after a gun battle outside their homes.
Jurors sentenced Jeremy BJ Miller after deliberating less than 30 minutes Friday, after convicting him earlier in the day in the murder of Ernest Davis.
Miller also was sentenced to 20 years in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm. The sentences will run concurrently.
In 2010, Miller's brother and Davis began fighting in the street after an argument.
Then prosecutors say a gun battle ensued after all three retrieved guns. Davis died after being shot by Miller.
The 22-year-old Miller had three previous felony convictions for drug distribution and possession, and he'd been released from prison shortly before Davis' murder.
