ERCOT Extends Conservation Alert Due To Record Cold
NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) - The state's power operator has extended a 'Conservation Alert' through Tuesday morning.
The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) is asking electric consumers to continue limiting their electric use as much as possible through 9:00 a.m. Tuesday as below freezing temperature continue across North Texas.
"We were able to maintain grid reliability without an energy emergency this morning, and we appreciate this help from consumers," said Dan Woodfin, ERCOT director of System Operations. "With the continued cold weather, we expect conditions to remain tight, especially during the early evening tonight and early morning hours tomorrow."
ERCOT Conservation Alert
An alert means you should limit your use of big appliances (washers, dryers, ovens) and try to keep your thermostats at 68 degrees.
ERCOT issued an alert Sunday evening to encourage consumers to limit their electric use this morning, when peak demand went up because of the freezing temps.
