Employment Numbers Frustrating News For North Texas Jobless

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - RuthAnn Davis, of Dallas, says her year-long search for employment is affecting her emotionally.  "I'm depressed.  I'm trying to keep an upper hand but you just get so discouraged and then everything comes due and your bills are due, your rent's due" she says.  "Where's the money to pay them?"

Davis has applied for unemployment benefits but she says without an income, she may be forced to leave her apartment.  "It scare me a lot.  I'm looking at my car and thinking, I'm going to have to go live in my car" says Davis.

The unemployment rate rose to 9.2 percent nationally, as hiring stalled and government layoffs contributed to the problem.  According to The Conference Board, a non-profit company that tracks employment data, in the last 90 days there were more than 142-thousand jobs postings in the DFW area.  Many of them in Collin County.

Davis says she is now trying to restrict her job search to companies close to her home.  She says the high price of gas is making it extremely difficult to commute.
