Elderly Couple Found Dead In Home

ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Police found an elderly husband and wife dead in their home Friday afternoon in what police said is an apparent murder-suicide.

Police evacuated four homes on Woodland Oaks Drive about 3:30 p.m. Friday after a 911 call from a man who said he had shot his wife. The man also gave the operator reason to believe he was about to shoot himself. Police didn't have any other contact with the man.

Officers blocked off the street and entered the home. They found the man and woman dead inside. Both had gunshot wounds. Police are not releasing their names until the medical examiner reviews the case.

Several neighbors who were kept from their homes during the incident had a hard time believing something could be wrong because they said the man's wife shouldn't be in the house.

"It's just him and his wife up until a couple of days ago," Kita Brown said. "He had to put his wife in a home."

Neighbors said the woman had Alzheimer's and her husband was unable to care for her. A family member said the couple had been married 44 years and had two children.
