eBay Removes Blue Bell For Sale Listings

DALLAS (CBS 11 NEWS) - eBay is on the offensive as people try to profit off the Blue Bell recall.

In an email on Thursday, eBay confirms it has removed all postings offering to sell tubs of Blue Bell ice cream.

Earlier in the day, CBS 11 found a gallon of Cookies and Cream on sale for $50 dollars and a pint of Dutch Chocolate for $10.

The listing even said a buyer could be a part of history by purchasing it.

eBay says it is against company policy to sell any recalled items.

You can, however, still find listings for the ice cream on Craigslist. One user asked for $10,000 for a pint of Krazy Kookie Dough.

Meanwhile, Blue Bell is vowing a "fresh start." The company announced that Monday it will begin a program of intensive cleaning & employee training at all four production plants -- in Alabama, Oklahoma and Texas.

The company says its following the recommendations of an expert microbiologist, after it found evidence of the potentially deadly bacteria on two lines in its main plant in Brenham and in two lines in a shuttered plant in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.

Ice cream produced this week will be used for solely testing & not sold to the public.
