Eating & Shopping In Bishop Arts District

DALLAS (CBS 11 NEWS) - The Bishop Arts District has quaint shops and chef inspired restaurants.  We took a closer look at the shopping and eating there and we started where everyone should with dessert.

Located at 314 Bishop Ave is The Emporium,  known for one thing, Pie!  Owners Megan Wilkes and Mary Sparks opened last September and there's been a line out the door every weekend since.  Every pie is made from scratch and by hand just like grandma used to make.

"We try to do things in their true season so every few months you'll see a few different pies."

They also have some regular flavors like Lord of the Pies.

"It's a caramel apple pie with a cinnamon streusel and a deep dish crust."

After dessert, stroll through one of the many boutique shops like Home on Bishop.  Co-owner, Ken Valencia told us their secret to success.

"We focus on hand crafted local goods.  We don't replenish anything that's here so once something sells out we bring in something new and fresh just as your home should be."

As for dining, Enos is the place for Pizza, Hunky's has made from scratch onion rings, and Odd Fellows serves your morning cup of Joe all day long.  But the most sought after, is a table at Lucia.

The five star restaurant is owned by husband and wife David and Jennifer Uygur.

"We make everything from scratch everyday, bread, pasta, cure the meats and desserts."

As for brunch, the locals say Ten Bells Tavern is a hidden gem without a long wait, until now.  The secret is out.
