Driver Shot And Killed after Allegedly Stabbing Fort Worth Officer

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A Fort Worth Police officer shot and killed a man Saturday morning, following an altercation during a traffic stop.

Investigators say the officer stopped a driver on the 1700 block of Northeast 36th Street at 4:00 am. There was a physical fight between the suspect and the officer.

According to police, during the altercation, the suspect stabbed the officer in the leg multiple times.

"The officer fired his weapon, striking the suspect," Fort Worth Police say.

The driver was pronounced dead on the scene.

The officer was transported to a nearby hospital and is expected to be OK. He has been placed on administrative leave.

The Major Case Unit is handling the investigation into this incident.
