Driver Hits Wills Point School Bus & Dies
WILLS POINT (CBSDFW.COM) - A driver died on Wednesday morning after slamming into a school bus in Wills Point. The incident happened at about 7:45 a.m. along State Highway 751.
According to Trooper Jean Dark with the Texas Department of Public Safety, the driver's green Toyota Camry drifted into the path of the oncoming bus, which was loaded with students on their way to classes for the day. Both drivers swerved to avoid the collision, but were unsuccessful. The car's driver was killed during the crash, when the Toyota became lodged underneath the bus.
A white pickup truck, which was behind the Toyota, was also involved in the crash. The truck's driver was not hurt.
Dark confirmed that the school bus driver and three students were transported to a nearby hospital. Their injuries were not serious, and all of them are expected to be okay.
The uninjured students were put onto another school bus and taken to school as scheduled. District officials did not say how many students were on the bus at the time of the crash.
