MAGNOLIA, Texas (AP) — Investigators say a driver has been charged in a tire-iron attack that left a Houston-area man dead and his father hurt in a traffic argument.
Anthony Dwayne Rideau was being held Wednesday on murder and aggravated assault charges.
The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office says the 41-year-old Rideau allegedly was speeding Tuesday night through a Magnolia neighborhood.
Lt. Brady Fitzgerald says two residents, 31-year-Aaron McMahon and 58-year-old Michael McMahon, were walking and carrying fishing poles. One man used a pole to strike the suspect's vehicle, prompting a fight.
Aaron McMahon died at a hospital. His father has injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
Investigators didn't immediately say how fast Rideau was driving. The speed limit is 30 mph.
Officials had no information on bond or an attorney to speak for Rideau.
