DPS Seizes $1 Million In Cash From Dallas Drug Gang
GARLAND (AP) - Texas law enforcement officials have seized an estimated $1 million in cash they say was going to be used to buy drugs in Arizona.
Department of Public Safety Capt. Jeoff Williams said Tuesday at a news conference in Garland that authorizes arrested five gang members in Dallas over the weekend and recovered half a dozen assault weapons and four vehicles.
Bundles of cash, each worth about $5,000, were stacked on a table alongside Williams. The captain said the money was found in clear, vacuum-sealed bags at the scene of the weekend raid.
The five gang members will face charges ranging from conspiracy to distribute marijuana to money laundering and weapons charges. They are expected to make initial appearances Thursday in federal court in Plano.
