Dallas Police Investigating Late Night Shootings

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - What started as a verbal altercation and physical fight in Dallas ended with two people injured -- one of them shot.

An emergency call went out just after 9:00 Wednesday night. The person reported that someone was shooting near Jerry's Market on Bernal Street, in west Dallas.

When officers arrived they found that a woman had gotten into a fight with two other people. During the incident the female victim had some items taken from her. The two suspects had left the scene.

Some time later officers were called back to the same location where they learned two people had been shot. According to police, the female victim returned to the scene with another person trying to retrieve her property. Once there, the two suspects returned and opened fire. investigators found nearly 50 bullet casings in the parking lot and a car riddled with holes. Most of the damage appeared to be to the vehicle and not the store.

Officers learned that the female victim was shot in the buttocks and one of the suspects was injure din some way and each had gone to local hospitals in private vehicles.

Shortly after the shooting police received another emergency call reporting a house fire less than a mile away from Jerry's Market. Officers at the scene had said the shootings and fire were related, but officials with Dallas Fire Rescue late said they weren't.
