DPD Officer Identified In Shooting Of An Unarmed Man

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Dallas Police have identified the officer who shot and killed an unarmed man in Oak Cliff on Sunday night.

Senior Corporal Antonio Hudson was off-duty at the time of the shooting.  Hudson has been with DPD for seven years and is on administrative leave per department policy.

The shooting was captured on surveillance video, according to police, and confirms that Andrew Scott Gaynier, 27, rushed the officer after trying to get into a moving van with a family inside.

Police say they have interviewed several witnesses, who have backed up the events seen on the video, and at least one witnesses confirms the officer asked Gaynier to "show his hands" before the shooting.

Police say no weapon was found at the scene.  They are not saying how many times Gaynier was shot until an autopsy is done.

CBS 11's Bud Gillett has reached out to the Gaynier family, who has referred all questions to their attorney.

Police were originally called to the shooting location at 6 p.m., 100 block of N. Windomere, to respond to Gaynier walking up and down the street making lewd comments to females.

An investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
