DPD Issues Sketch Of Armed Sexual Assault Suspect
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Dallas Police have issued a sketch of a suspect who is accused of sexually assaulting two women at gunpoint.
They happened on May 29 and June 5. In both incidents, the suspect approached his victims as they walked to a bus stop at Walnut St. and Audelia Rd. in Far North Dallas, police say.
In a release, department spokesman James Walton said the suspect pulled a handgun on the women and forced them each to a secluded area, where he sexually assaulted them.
The suspect made away with phones, identification cards and cash, Walton said.
The man is in his early twenties and stands 5'6 to 5'8. Walton says he weighs about 150 pounds and may be wearing a red bandana or a hat. He also has "deep, raspy speech."
People who live in the area describe it as a "bad part of town."
"It's rough, really rough," said Tam Nguyen. "You can't tell who's walking behind you."
Nguyen is 24 years old. She was waiting at a bus stop near the intersection after going to the store to pick up some groceries.
"Yes, I'm worried," she said. "That's why I have to carry pepper spray."
Police hope the public can help identify the suspect before he strikes again. While researching a story on the number of rapes reported in Dallas, Jana Barker, the executive director of the Dallas Area Rape Crisis Center said a typical predator will attack nine victims before he's caught.
