DPD Investigating 2 Dallas Fire Station Shootings
DALLAS (KRLD) - Dallas police are investigating two separate shootings that happened at Dallas Fire Rescue firehouses.
In the first shooting on March 8, a Dallas firefighter is accused of firing a semi-automatic pistol inside Station 45, on Commerce Street. DFR officials confirm that firefighter has been put on administrative leave while the incident is investigated.
"I know at least one shot was fired, but I'm not for sure if anything other than that occurred," DFR Lieutenant Joel Lavender told KRLD NewsRadio 1080. "One of the things we really have to do in this situation is to make sure not only that our firefighters are safe, but we also have to work to see what we can do to help the member that's affected by this."
The name of the accused firefighter has not been released.
The second shooting happened two days later at Fire Station 1, on Irving Boulevard.
"Someone drove by the station and fired a weapon into the station. The police department they're investigating that, only, because that's their expertise. It's not our expertise," Lavender said of the case.
Dallas police confirm they are investigating both incidents and are trying to determine if they are related.
