Dorsett Jr. Upset Cowboys Still Use Father's No. 33
DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) -- Former Cowboys running back Tony Dorsett was enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He's been enshrined into the Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor. Simply put, he's a Cowboys legend.
But Dorsett's son, Anthony Dorsett Jr., believes the team is making a mistake by allowing current Cowboys to wear the "33" jersey.
"It's one of those sad things where, we've talked about it before. My dad doesn't make a big issue about it," said Dorsett Jr. with Shan & RJ on 105.3 The Fan. "I definitely know it doesn't sit well. He doesn't make a big issue out of it because, what can you do about it?"
Dorsett trails only Emmitt Smith for the franchise records in rushing touchdowns (72), yards (12,036), and yards per game (76.7). He is one of only 18 former players currently in the Cowboys Ring of Honor.
Dorsett Jr. vented on Twitter on Sunday, suggesting that the team is disrespecting his father by allowing players to wear No. 33.
In training camp, undrafted rookie safety Ryan Smith has been wearing the number. But you won't find anyone wearing No. 22 or No. 12.
"When you see numbers that are not worn, or have not been worn, it's kind of like it's right there in your face all the time."
