Don Nelson Reportedly Heading To Hall Of Fame
NEW YORK (CBS SPORTS) - The NBA's winningest coach is headed where you would expect to find someone with that title: the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. Longtime NBA head coach Don Nelson will be a member of the Hall's class of 2012, according to ESPNDallas.com. The class will be officially announced on Monday.
Nelson's career in professional basketball began in 1962-1963 as a forward for the Chicago Zephyrs. He also played for the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics during a 14-year career, posting averages of 10.3 points and 4.9 rebounds. He won five titles as a player, all with the Celtics. Nelson also served as a front office executive for the Bucks, Warriors and Mavericks at various points of his career.
