Documents Suggest Kaufman Murder Suspect Planned Additional Assassinations
ROCKWALL (CBSDFW.COM) -- Court documents reveal that former Kaufman County Justice of the Peace Eric Williams may have planned additional assassinations as early as 2005.
Williams is on trial for the murders of the Kaufman County district attorney Mike McLelland, his wife and assistant district attorney Mark Hasse. The three were murdered during a three-month span in early 2013.
Officials believe the murders were in retaliation after Williams was convicted of stealing county computers.
New documents lay out a number of alleged actions that prosecutors may introduce.
Among the allegations are two acts of "conspiracy to commit capital murder", naming both retired judge Glen Ashworth and former judge and current District Attorney Erleigh Wiley. CBS 11 first reported these details in April.
The documents suggest that the acts took place between 2005 and 2013.
The documents also suggests that Williams may have impersonated a public servant on the day McLelland and his wife were murdered at their home in an unincorporated part of Kaufman County.
Williams' wife and capital murder co-defendant, Kim Williams, is believed to have been working with officials to build a case against her husband. This was confirmed on Tuesday, as Kim was listed as a possible witness in the documents.
