MESQUITE (CBSDFW.COM) — The City of Mesquite's Christmas in the Park closed early on Saturday due to teenagers causing disturbances, a city official said.
Teenagers from Dallas were running through crowds and blocking entertainment areas at the event at Westlake Park on Gross Road, Wayne Larson, the city's public information officer, said. The event was slated to end at 9 p.m., but officials decided to close it down 15 minutes early due to the disturbances.
Six teenagers were detained — three for causing disturbances and three for alleged drug use — Larson said, and one person was cited for possessing drug paraphernalia.
One fight happened during the event. An officer attempting to break it up fired his taser when those involved wouldn't cooperate, Larson said, but the taser didn't hit anyone.
Larson said no one was injured and no arrests were made.
