DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A battle within the Dallas Independent School District is spilling into the courtroom on Tuesday, as three district board members sue board president Miguel Solis. The board members have accused Solis and the school district of violating their own policy.
This all centers around the performance of superintendent Mike Miles.
The board members want to have a meeting to discuss Miles and his future with the district, including the possibility of firing him. The trustees have criticized Miles and his leadership.
Solis has scheduled that meeting for May, but it comes after the board elections. The trustees argue that this is too late, and against school board rules. At least two school board seats -- which belong to board members who are suing -- are up for grabs, and those elections could change everything.
A judge jumped into the middle of this battle on Tuesday at an 11:00 a.m. hearing. The board members are hoping that the judge will order a meeting about Miles by the end of the week.
