Report On DISD Superintendent Due After Labor Day
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A closed-door session of the Dallas ISD School Board ended late Thursday without a decision on a report into allegations Superintendent Mike Miles attempted to manipulate a district contract to a provider of his choosing.
Former U.S. Attorney Paul Coggins, who was commissioned by the board to lead the investigation, has two weeks to wrap up a written report for school board members - something that is not expected until after Labor Day.
Earlier board members met for hours in executive session to hear what Coggins had found and to ask questions.
"For me, if some law were broken, it's a clear problem - if no law was broken - then I don't think we have much to worry about," said Dallas ISD Trustee Mike Morath.
Coggins was called on to take over the investigation after former communications chief Rebecca Rodriguez made the allegations in regards to the $200,000 parent education contract.
Miles, who took his seat during the meeting, denies any wrongdoing, but the outcome of the Coggins' investigation could determine his future with the school district. Miles listened as many of the public speakers chastised his leadership.
"Superintendent Miles, please go miles away from here and allow our teachers not to have another year of your chaotic mess," said Dallas resident Joyce Freeman.
