DISD Investigates Possible Test Score Tampering

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - The principal and assistant principal at a Dallas Independent School District high school have been placed on paid administrative leave.

Principal Tamara Francis and Assistant Principal Reginald Samuel are on leave as the district investigates the possible changing of test scores at Kathlyn Joy Gilliam Collegiate Academy.

"Because of the seriousness of the allegations, the school has been placed under the temporary leadership of an experienced school leader," reads an issued statement from Dallas ISD.

Sources tied to the district have said concerns were raised over possible altered records on student performance exams that are used to assess a school's academic rating issued by the Texas Education Agency. Student performance is also used as criteria for evaluating teacher quality.

Neither Francis nor Samuel could be located for comment.

The school enrolled 390 teenagers who participate in college prep programs that include acquiring college credit in some coursework.

One parent called the investigation for Gilliam Academy "surprising."

"Our kids do well. We chose the school because of the program. There's no need to cheat."
