Manziel's Time In Cleveland Appears To Be Over

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Cleveland Browns released a statement Tuesday following Johnny Manziel's latest off the field incident in Fort Worth this past weekend. In the statement, the team strongly hints at the departure of the former first round pick out of Texas A&M.
"We've been clear about expectations for our players on and off the field," said Cleveland Browns EVP of Football Operations Sashi Brown. "Johnny's continual involvement in incidents that run counter to those expectations undermines the hard work of his teammates and the reputation of our organization. His status with our team will be addressed when permitted by league rules. We will have no further comment at this time."
Fort Worth police were called at about 2 a.m. Saturday to investigate a report of a possible assault at an apartment complex in the 2100 block of Park Hill Drive. The officers didn't find the person who called, but they spoke to an unidentified 23-year-old woman who said she was "involved in a disturbance with her ex-boyfriend" earlier that night in Dallas.
Sgt. Steve Enright later identified him as Manziel. There were no arrests, and it's not clear if Manziel has yet been questioned.
After the woman said she wasn't hurt, she raised concerns about her ex-boyfriend's well-being. Police then dispatched an Air One Unit to locate Manziel after they had trouble reaching him, however, it was later determined that he was safe.
Fort Worth police are working with Dallas police to determine if a crime occurred.
This is the second time Manziel and his ex-girlfriend have been questioned by police.
Just this past October, Manziel and his ex Colleen Crowley were spotted fighting in Avon, Ohio, on the west side of Cleveland. Manziel wasn't arrested but the NFL investigated the matter to see if he violated the league's personal conduct policy.
Crowley told officers that Manziel had hit her and pushed her head against a car window. Manziel was questioned by police at the scene and he was cleared of any wrong-doing after officers determined that Crowley had been drinking all-day. Manziel told police he had drank earlier in the day.
Manziel was later questioned by a league investigator and cleared, but it was another mark on his already tainted reputation.
Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson commented on the situation this morning. "My general reaction would be disappointment," Jackson told the "Hey Tony" show on ESPN Cleveland 850. "As I've said many times, I would like for the Cleveland Browns' players to conduct themselves in a manner that represents the organization well. Obviously, that reflected differently on what we want to have happen. Obviously, it's a process that we're going through, and we'll continue to go through it."
