DFW Man Gets 60 Years Jail For Double Murder

GROESBECK (AP) - A Dallas-area man has been sentenced to 60 years in prison for killing two of his friends just hours after they all went to some drag races.

Prosecutors in Groesbeck say Charles Griffith of Grand Prairie on Tuesday pleaded guilty to two counts of murder. A judge sentenced Griffith to concurrent 60-year prison terms in the plea deal.

The case involved the 2011 stabbing deaths of Pamela Lykins and Jeffrey Scott Summers of Mart. The bodies of the pair were discovered dumped in a ditch.

Griffith and his now-wife Katherine Walker originally were charged with capital murder.

Walker this month pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon and received 30 years in prison. Prosecutors say Walker, who also went to the drag races, stole Summers' truck.
