DFW Connector Project Is 90 Percent Done

GRAPEVINE (CBSDFW.COM) - Some big changes happened over the weekend at the DFW Connector Project in Grapevine. The news is good, but drivers will have to pay close attention during the Monday commute.

Crews have been working hard for more than three years on the highway project, located just north DFW International Airport, and it is now 90 percent complete. In a few more months -- by August or September -- there will be no more road construction in this part of North Texas. That is almost a full year ahead of schedule.

Project spokeswoman Alyssa Tenorio said, "We attribute all of our success with our schedule to the great crews that we have out here working on the project, as well as the working relationship with a lot of the local stake holders and, again, the weather's just been really helpful these past few years."

Once the main work on Highway 114/121 is complete, some portions of FM 2499 from Flower Mound to Grapevine will be rebuilt. That work was delayed because of funding.

The entire DFW Connector Project has cost nearly $1 billion.
