Dez Bryant To Return To Practice; Plans To Play Against Minnesota

DALLAS (1053 The Fan) - Amid a terse training-camp mood following a lackluster 23-6 preseason loss Sunday at San Francisco, the atmosphere is about to change: Dez Bryant will participate in his first practice Tuesday since sustaining a hamstring strain on Aug. 6.

"The plan is for me to play (this weekend) against Minnesota,'' Dez tells me.

But even with that highly achievable goal, this will be a step-by-step process for the All-Pro, who also has the honor of being on the cover if this month's Rolling Stone magazine, as first reported by 105.3 The Fan a month ago.

"'I'm a football guy but the (cover story) is more on personal level,'' Dez told me then … but football is the priority again today, with him ramping up starting with today's afternoon session as at least a partial participant.

He will "get involved in individuals,'' coach Jason Garrett said during the midday presser, "and see how he does and how he responds to that.''

Garrett's meeting with the media was almost all business, reflecting the feelings of team leaders disappointed in the sloppiness and lack of intensity and execution against the 49ers. The presence of a player like Dez Bryant can, of course, change much of that.

"He's stayed very engaged, really good in meetings, good at the walk-through, engaged with his coaches, engaged with his teammates," Garrett said of Dez. "He's a professional."

A professional football player, that is. Not a professional model … though Bryant is certainly pleased with the Rolling Stone results.

""Shirt off and pads on,'' he tells me, laughing. … and about ready to put the uniform on, too.
