PARKER COUNTY (CBS 11 NEWS) -
For more than 700 schools across North Texas, Monday was a real snow day. But in Weatherford some students still showed up on campus.

"Hi. I'm Desmond Augusta from Fort Worth, Texas," one student introduced himself before attempting to slide down a hill.

Classes were canceled. The buildings were all locked up. But a lesson in physics was still going on.

"I'm trying to slide down this hill with the perfect skateboarding move," Augusta told us.

Unfortunately, he only got half way down the hill.

Most of the students we spoke with at Weatherford College have never had a real snow day; so, they were more than happy to deal with the cold for a few hours of fun.

"I've never had weather like this before," Jared Web from New Orleans said.

"You going stomach first or head first," CBS 11 Reporter Mireya Villarreal asked.

"I'm just going to slide and see what happens," Webb answered as he took off.  He only made it half way down sliding, then rolled part of the way.

In the end, no one made it down the hill successfully and a few guys walked away with a couple of scrapes. But they'll have another shot tomorrow.

Weatherford ISD and Weatherford College has canceled Tuesday classes because of inclement weather.
