DESOTO (CBSDFW.COM) - According to Sergeant Nick Bristow with the DeSoto Police Department, a suspect was arrested Saturday after he committed multiple crimes that included robbery and carjacking.
Bristow said police started responding when the suspect stole a car from the 400 block of East Wintergreen.
According to Bristow, the suspect then drove the car into a house on The Meadows Parkway close to Plantation.
Officers were in the area when the suspect proceeded to run away and tried to rob a mail truck. Bristow said the suspect did not steal the mail truck but did get away with the mailman's wallet.
According to Bristow, the suspect then carjacked another vehicle in Plantation. The suspect tried to leave Plantation, but was met by a DeSoto officer.
Bristow said the suspect then tried to elude the officer, but drove into a ten-mile creek where he was arrested.
As of Saturday night, the suspect will face two robbery counts, one of which is for the carjacking on Plantation, and he will also face a charge for taking the mailman's wallet.
The suspect is currently being held in DeSoto City Jail and has not been identified.
