DENTON (CBSDFW.COM) — Police are investigating a Denton home where two people were found killed. It happened Sunday afternoon in the 1300 block of Lynhurst Lane in the Southridge community.

Denton police said they arrested 40-year-old Stephen Scott and charged him with two counts of capital murder.

The victims have not been identified pending notification of next of kin, according to Officer Orlando Hinojosa. The cause of death is still unknown.

Officers responded to the area after a call about a domestic disturbance came in around 2:30 p.m., Hinojosa said. Upon arrival, officers found a man and woman dead, both of whom were in their 60s.

Investigators are trying to reassure neighbors.

When Tana Womack saw emergency vehicles all over the neighborhood, she assumed it must just be a gas leak. When police told her that a man and a woman were found dead in a nearby home, she couldn't believe it.

"It's crazy 'cause we don't have that kind of stuff. This is a crazy nice neighborhood," Womack said.

Police said the victims did live at the home, and they did know the suspect.

"No signs of robbery or theft, and the Denton Police Department believes this is an isolated incident, that the neighbors around this area are safe," Hinojosa said.

Womack said that comes as some relief, but there are still a lot of details she and other neighbors want to know before they'll rest easy.

"If somebody outside the neighborhood or outside their family did it... I want to make sure that it is an isolated incident; that the cops are not just saying that to make us feel better," Womack said.
